Background

I am a senior clinical psychologist who has been working within women’s and general mental health for 22 years. I also work with adolescents and adults who have drug & alcohol addictions.

For the past 19 years I have specialised in Women’s Health working exploring effective pathways for women to regain balance and wellbeing both within and outside of intimate relationships. I work with women who have experienced significant distress through losing sexual desire or experiencing pain within intimate relationships as well as working with women who have exaggerated premenstual tension and menopause symptoms. These symptoms are often also associated with anger, anxiety, changes in mood, tired and sleep disturbances. I work with women adjusting to complex gynaecological conditions including diagnosis, treatment and recovery for cancer.

Many women I work with are negotiating full time work with extensive family committments and lack time to emotionally process and recover from both overwork and significant life events. Overcrowed lives exacerbates distress symptoms such as grief, anxiety through increasing workloads within paid work loss of sexual desire and PMS in situations where despite very high levels of responsibility women have fewer resources to initiate change.

I have recently completed my PhD in the area of young women and wellbeing. I am increasingly identifying how work place politics impacts on busy women’s and men’s lives and wellbeing and explore pathways to better negotiate the workplace.

I work with male partner’s, husbands and children. All new clients are screened for safety within their family, relationships, friendships and work contexts.
