Background

I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and a member of The NZ Psychological Society.  My clinical psychology training was psychodynamic. I later completed training in Integrative Psychotherapy, focusing on Gestalt and Existential Psychotherapy, and I have been a UK Council for Psychotherapy Registered Psychotherapist (UKCP reg.) since 2007. Over the years of practice, I developed knowledge of Mindfulness-based interventions and teaching, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Family Therapy.  This means that I can work with you to tailor an integrated and effective therapeutic approach based on your difficulties, your wishes and your needs to arrive at the results you are looking to have from therapy. I have worked in multiple clinical settings, from University Counselling Services to Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Units. I provide therapy to individuals, families, and groups and supervise clinicians and teams. I am the Director of Mindfulness Auckland, where I facilitate mindfulness courses and Residential Meditation Retreats. I am also a Co-Director of the Mindfulness Training Institute: Australia & New Zealand (MTI)  –  this internationally recognised not-for-profit organisation trains and certifies Mindfulness-Based Programme (MBSR/MBCT) teachers in our part of the world.

Therapeutic Approach

I approach my clinical work from a deep place of awareness, presence and understanding of the pain involved in being a human being.

Acceptance, warmth and integrity are the bedrock of our joint work. Offering a safe space for you to be exactly as you are and supporting you through the paradoxical process of change will help us arrive at the results you want from therapy.

I consider the therapeutic work one of the most important missions I have in life.
